[头部]有足够的尺寸，但并不意味着头部很沉重。眉毛明显，但不是很高或很突出。应该有合理的长度和宽度，有足够的长度，绕到耳朵后的周长至少为16英寸，鼻子长（4.5英寸）而宽，鼻孔张开。耳朵位置低且靠在面颊两侧。大多数英国猎狐犬的耳朵是“圆形”的，这意味着到耳朵末端的长度约1.5英寸。牙齿必须以正方形方式接触（剪状咬和或钳状咬和）。猪嘴（上颚突出式咬和）或下颚突出式咬和都属于失格。 [颈部] 长而整洁，没有任何赘肉，从头盖骨到肩部不小于10英寸。从肩部到头部呈精致的锥形，上轮廓线略呈弧线形。
[肩胛和肋骨] 肩胛：肩胛骨长，且被发达的肌肉所覆盖，不显得沉重，尤其在尖端。适度倾斜，上臂长而肌肉发达，没有多余的脂肪和其他废物。胸部和肋骨：24英寸的狗，胸围大约31英寸，肋骨必须非常深。
[背部和腰部]背部和腰部肌肉都很发达，彼此紧密结合。结合处宽，平顺，背线完全水平。尾巴：位置恰当，且欢快地举着，但决不能过分向前而超过背部（象松鼠尾巴）。末端逐渐变细，且在下方有较多毛发。后躯：主要用于产生推动力，必须十分强壮，并且有很强的耐力，能长时间保持匀速前进，比单纯的速度更重要，笔直的膝关节是首选，而非常倾斜的膝关节是属于灵缇犬的。肘部：相当直，既不向内弯，也不向外翻。位置比较低，就象前面说过的，上臂很长。
[腿和足爪]每个猎狐犬的主人都坚持认为，他们的腿应该象柱子一样直，结实；踝骨的尺寸尤其重要。希望得到笔直的腿，而导致过度的关节，曾经非常普遍，但近年来，这种缺陷，已经被细心的繁殖家和聪明的裁判所根除了，所以现在已经很少看见优秀的猎狐犬还存在这样的问题了。骨骼不应该太大，足爪应该是圆形的猫足，具有发达的指关节和结实的趾甲，这是最后的重要特征。
[被毛和颜色]不是十分重要的特征，只要其式样属于所谓的“猎犬颜色”，被毛是短、浓密、硬且有光泽就可以了。猎犬颜色是黑色、褐色、和白色，三种颜色的任意组合，同样，以白色、野兔色、獾色或黄色、褐色的不同的组合模式都可以。“匀称性”对猎狐犬来说是至关重要的，也就是我们所知道的“品质”，这是所有裁判都非常关注的问题。

Hound Group
Head
Shouldbe of full size, but by no means heavy. Brow pronounced, but not highor sharp. There should be a good length and breadth, sufficient to givein a dog hound a girth in front of the ears of fully 16 inches. Thenose should be long (4½ inches) and wide, with open nostrils. Ears seton low and lying close to the cheeks. Most English hounds are "rounded"which means that about 1½ inches is taken off the end of the ear. Theteeth must meet squarely, either apig-mouth(overshot) or undershot being a disqualification.
Neck
Mustbe long and clean, without the slightest throatiness, not less than 10inches from cranium to shoulder. It should taper nicely from shouldersto head, and the upper outline should be slightly convex.
The Shoulders
should be long and well clothed with muscle, without being heavy,especially at the points. They must be well sloped, and the true armbetween the front and the elbow must be long and muscular, but freefrom fat or lumber.Chest and Back Ribs--The chest should girth over 31 inches in a 24-inch hound, and the back ribs must be very deep.
Back and Loin
Mustboth be very muscular, running into each other without any contractionbetween them. The couples must be wide, even to raggedness, and thetopline of the back should be absolutely level, theSternwell set on and carried gaily but not in any case curved over the backlike a squirrel's tail. The end should taper to a point and thereshould be a fringe of hair below. TheHindquartersor propellers are required to be very strong, and as endurance is ofeven greater consequence than speed, straight stifles are preferred tothose much bent as in a Greyhound.Elbowsset quite straight, and neither turned in nor out are asine qua non. They must be well let down by means of the long true arm above mentioned.
Legs and Feet
EveryMaster of Foxhounds insists on legs as straight as a post, and asstrong; size of bone at the ankle being especially regarded as allimportant. The desire for straightness had a tendency to produceknuckling-over, which at one time was countenanced, but in recent yearsthis defect has been eradicated by careful breeding and intelligentadjudication, and one sees very little of this trouble in the bestmodern Foxhounds. The bone cannot be too large, and the feet in allcases should be round and catlike, with well-developed knuckles andstrong horn, which last is of the greatest importance.
Color and Coat
Notregarded as very important, so long as the former is a good "houndcolor," and the latter is short, dense, hard, and glossy. Hound colorsare black, tan, and white, or any combination of these three, also thevarious "pies" compounded of white and the color of the hare andbadger, or yellow, or tan. TheSymmetryof the Foxhound is of the greatest importance, and what is known as "quality" is highly regarded by all good judges.
